It is one of the first towns and maybe the oldest of the province. This town was also inhabited by Los comechingones the first mention of this zone was in 1588.

In 1620 was built the first chapel. It became on those in one of the most important in the zone because it was a storage place . Today walking along its colonial style streets it can be found buildings which used to be warehouses as well as the church building and the school one and it was the place where on 18 February 1800 was born Dr Dalmacio Velez Sarsfield, the author of the Argentinian Civil Code.

The main economic activities werw the agriculture and the cattle raising. Every tool and object used are store in order to keep the historic and cultural heritage. Amboy is located in Valle de Calamuchita, Córdoba at 19 km from Santa rosa de Calamuchita at 30 km from Villa General Blgrano and at 109 km from Córdoba city. Amboy Calamuchita has campings on the shore of Arroyo Amboy, food locals and lodgings for the visitor.
